Crewe Rifle & Pistol Club

Tucked away in the town of Crewe, CRPC has been going for more than a century and is looking to expand – as club secretary Chris Dunnington explains

Crewe Rifle & Pistol Club’s origins are shrouded in the mists of time, but we do know that in 1904 a suitable building was donated for our purpose by Henry Manley and was well used for smallbore rifle shooting. The club has occupied its present premises, a former primary school, for more than 30 years.

We currently have two ranges: one dedicated to 6m and 10m air, the other used for air, smallbore, pistol calibres and black powder firearms at up to 25 years. We plan to add a new 10m range to help support members whose national and international success has increased their training needs and will offer improved facilities enabling us to expand the air section.

Our membership currently stands at 210 and we offer training for both new and experienced members, from coaches who hold club and county NSRA qualifications. We also enjoy a close association with the Scouts and this helps to provide a ready source of new young members, who can then benefit from inspirational role models at the club.

Shooting is an Olympic sport that is accessible to virtually anyone of any age who has an interest in finding a varied and demanding sport in which to participate. We believe that a rifle and pistol club provides a safe and secure environment in which to develop these skills and realise personal potential.
